Endoscopic myringoplasty
is an equally safe and effective technique for the improvement of hearing loss
as the conventional technique.
From a recent study, it was concluded that endoscopic cartilage myringoplasty provides better postoperative outcomes in patients suffering from chronic otitis media. It offers lesser postoperative pain and recovery time. It is found to be a better technique in myringoplasty operation.
In this study, 130 patients suffering from Chronic Otitis Media who went through endoscopic myringoplasty (n=75) were compared with those who went through microscopic surgery (n=55).
No considerable variation in hearing gain was observed between the two groups 1, 6, and 12 months after the operation. However, high hearing gain scores were examined in the patients who underwent endoscopic myringoplasty. Furthermore, lesser postoperative pain and recovery time were reported in endoscopic group.
