rates of neck, thoracic and low back pain, respectively.
The findings of a population-based Ural Eye and Medical Study evaluated the perpetual missing details regarding the prevalence and factors associated with neck and back pain in Russia.
Today, Russia is progressively ahead on the way to achieve improved and well-structured healthcare system. Although, if talking about low back and neck pain, the information regarding these problems always being a matter of concern due to lack of data. However, this long wait has come to its end as the recent findings of this study enlightened the significant, detailed and precise information of the concerned issue.
The first stage of the study involved the questionnaire regarding the occurrence, pain levels, symptom duration and medication efficacy on neck, thoracic and low back pain.
Afterwards, the evaluation found out that the prevalence of neck/thoracic/low back pain was higher in youngsters and females. Over and above, the individuals with lower vegetable intake, higher body mass index, and higher sedentary lifestyle also found with higher incidence of neck and low back pain.
The study not only informed about above-mentioned associations, but also presented a significant impact of other diseases. The patients with higher incidence of anxiety, unconsciousness, thyroid disorder, iron-deficiency anaemia, bone fractures, cardiovascular diseases and osteoarthritis exhibited a considerable high frequency of neck/thoracic/low back pain. Moreover, people aged 40+ years were more prone to have these conditions.
As, it is well-known that the neck pain and low back pain are the leading causes of disability, worldwide, this data would certainly aid in establishing potential preventive measures, reducing the morbidity and improving quality of life and functionality. Also, this information is also helpful in evaluating the burden of neck and back pain in Russia under the frame of the global burden of disease.
