Administration of a local anesthetic solution (2% Lignocaine with Adrenaline) combined with Buprenorphine for intraoral block related procedures significantly reduces pain following surgical extraction of mandibular third molar.

A prospective, randomized controlled study depicted that a combination of local anesthetic solution and Buprenorphine during intraoral block procedures was an effective and safe pain management approach. Researchers aimed to compare Buprenorphine and 2% Lignocaine with Adrenaline in providing postsurgical pain relief after mandibular third molar extraction.

The study enrolled a total of 40 participants, who were randomized to either Group A or Group B, with 20 subjects in each group. For inferior alveolar nerve block, Group A was given a combination of 2% Lignocaine with 1:80,000 Adrenaline and Buprenorphine, while Group B was administered 2% Lignocaine with 1:80,000 Adrenaline.

The data was gathered and entered into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, then analyzed using SPSS software, version 21. The data was compared using Student's t-test, with a significance level set at 0.05. The combination of a local anesthetic solution and Buprenorphine was promising in the induction of postoperative analgesia without significant side effects in individuals undergoing molar extraction surgery.
