Moderate-intensity
aerobic training and high-intensity aerobic training can change the migraine
pain index.
From a recent study, it was evaluated that the moderate-intensity aerobic training (MOD T) and high-intensity aerobic training (HIGH T) decreased the pain index in women suffering with migraine. Still, none of these can alter the Substance P (SP) and serum Adenylate-Cyclase Activating Polypeptide (PACAP) contents.
In this study, 45 non-athlete migraine patients (female) were considered. They were divided into three groups: control, MOD T and HIGH T. Before and following the training protocol, VO2max, migraine pain indices, body composition factors and PACAP and SP were calculated.
MOD T decreases the headache duration, intensity and frequency. Also, HIGH T decreased the headache duration, intensity and frequency.
Though for headache duration and intensity, MOD T was efficient in comparison to HIGH T. Neither MOD T nor HIGH T was able to modify the PACAP and SP contents.
It was concluded that both MOD T and HIGH T could change the migraine pain index, but they cannot change the PACAP and SP contents in migraine suffering women.
