To study the efficacy of intradiscal ozone injections for Herniated lumbar discs (HLD).
Intradiscal ozone therapy is effective for herniated lumbar discs (slipped discs), providing superior long-term outcomes over steroid injections and oral medications by reducing pain, inflammation, and disc herniation size with fewer side effects.
To study the efficacy of intradiscal ozone injections for Herniated lumbar discs (HLD).
Studies on intradiscal ozone injections for HLDs were included after searching data sources like PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Scopus up to Jan 25, 2024. The Cochrane Collaboration tool was used for quality examination.
Long-term effectiveness (more than equal to 6 months): Ozone injections significantly outperformed steroid injections and traditional medications. Effectiveness was similar to microdiscectomy. Short-term effectiveness (less than 6 months): Ozone injections had a greater reduction in pain as assessed by the visual analogue scale compared to steroid injections.
Intradiscal ozone injections offer superior long-term relief for HLDs compared to traditional treatments like steroids and medications. They are a valuable option for managing chronic low back pain.
