A randomized control trial was performed to compare how effective platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Minoxidil treatments are for androgenetic alopecia.
PRP therapy exhibits a higher efficacy compared to 5% Minoxidil for treating androgenetic alopecia.
A randomized control trial was performed to compare how effective platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Minoxidil treatments are for androgenetic alopecia.
Overall, 72 participants were assigned to get either PRP or 5% topical Minoxidil treatment. Following 12 weeks of therapy, the hair pull test was carried out. Counting of the extracted hairs was done.
The PRP group exhibited a 91.7% success rate in the negative hair pull test, which was considerably higher when compared to the 69.4% success rate in the Minoxidil group.
PRP therapy is a valuable therapeutic option to relieve androgenetic alopecia. These results have the potential to enhance patient adherence and overall satisfaction, providing a better alternative for patients who are not satisfied with topical Minoxidil.
