A recent study depicted
that the patients can be benefited with the use of local application of
autologous platelet concentrates (APC) in the Treatment of Medication-Related
Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ) as it has shown excellent results
to the patients when given combined with surgery.
The study was performed
to assess the clinical efficiency of locally applied APCs combined with a
surgical procedure in the treatment of MRONJ.
In this study thirteen
studies that examined APCs in the treatment of MRONJ were considered for
examination of 223 patients. The collective success rate of APCs combined with
surgery was 90%. The combined treatment was 7.67 times more effective than
surgery alone.
The results prove that APCs is a potential treatment for MRONJ. APC offer added benefits for the surgery in the treatment of MRONJ.
APC is found to be a
promising treatment for MRONJ. The randomised studies of large sample sizes
prove the results.
