Level A1 evidence supports the safety and efficacy of Botulinum toxin type A as chronic migraine prophylaxis. LAMP to guide experienced aesthetic practitioners to use it for better CM management.

According to a newly published analysis in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, botulinum toxin type A (onaBoNTA) is an effective, well-tolerated and considered a safe approach to treat chronic migraine (CM) but further studies are needed to study its link with increased risk of adverse events. This study will help to generate The London Aesthetic Migraine Protocol (LAMP), to implement safe, evidence-based administration for CM management. The World Health Organization ranked migraine as the 6th biggest reason of disability globally. Chronic migraine is a type of primary headache disorders as per the International Classification of Headache Disorders, 3rd edition. The patient's physical/mental health, quality of life and functionality affects greatly due to migraine. 

An evidence-based literature review was conducted with 260 articles. The articles were searched from the electronic databases; MEDLINE and Pubmed till March 1, 2018. Only human studies and those with the English language were involved, and animal or in-vitro studies were rejected. Out of 260 selected articles, only level 1A and excellent-quality studies were short-listed. Though the treatment with onaBoNTA found efficacious but it may produce some safety concerns thus using level 1A evidence used to create LAMP for safe guidance to the experienced physicians for the better management of CM.
