The standardized nursing model greatly enhances pain relief, psychological well-being, sleep, and overall quality of life for trigeminal neuralgia patients during perioperative micro balloon compression.
Trigeminal neuralgia, marked by intense facial pain, demands effective perioperative care. A recent study published in the Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine explored how standardized nursing practices during micro balloon compression can enhance patient outcomes.
Haibin Lu and Jie Yin studied 22 trigeminal neuralgia patients treated with micro balloon compression. Patients were divided into a control group (standard care) and an experimental group (standardized nursing). The groups were compared regarding pain levels, psychological state, sleep quality, life quality, complications, and patient contentment.
Both groups saw improvements in pain, depression, anxiety, and sleep quality as measured via the Neuropathic Pain Rating Scale, Hamilton Depression Scale, Hamilton Anxiety Scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. However, the experimental group noted significantly more acceptable outcomes in these areas than the other group. The experimental group also experienced fewer complications and higher satisfaction, though these differences were insignificant.
