IV administration of single-dose
prefilled syringe of Naloxone Injection can be recommended in emergency
situations of narcotic overdose.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories asserted the availability of Naloxone Hydrochloride Injection which will be available as 2mg/2mL single-dose prefilled syringes.
Naloxone hydrochloride belongs to opioid antagonist drug class. It is used for the treatment of opioid depression, and for analysis of alleged or known acute opioid overdose. It may be administered as intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), or subcutaneous (SC).
The fastest onset of action is attained by IV administration, which is suggested in emergency conditions associated with narcotic overdose. The patients should be carefully and continuously observed as the duration of action of some opioids may surpass that of naloxone. When needed, the frequent doses of naloxone should be given.
